Have you come across pools with cracked coping? This pool was built in the 90’s. The white plastic coping had gone through many years of freeze and thaw causing it to bulge & crack.
We opened up each crack using a V blade on a 4″ grinder. The voids behind the coping were filled with a sand mortar slurry mix pumped in to the coping. When that cured we sanded the coping and smoothed the edges of the cracks.
The cracks were then filled with fiberglass netting and resin. When the fiberglass hardened we sanded the cracks again smoothing them out flush with the coping.
After cleaning the coping we coated the coping with a two part epoxy pool paint making the coping look like brand new once again.
The secret to making this repair last is to fill the joint between the coping and the concrete deck. This is a must to prevent water from seeping into the coping again. Open up that joint using the same V blade on a 4″ grinder. You can fill that joint with a self leveling concrete joint filler or a Concrete Mortar Caulking.
This pool was being renovated for a liner replacement and walk in stair repair. The coping repair was just a small part of the overall job. I have added more pictures below..

I have PVC/plastic pool coping. A small section pulled away from the wall. Any advice on this fix? I also have crakes and even a few holes from as your article states. What kind of resin or bond is best to use?

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. It can be very difficult to repair or reset coping that has pulled away from the concrete or the wall. That might require removing concrete, purchasing & replacing that section of coping and repouring the deck back in place. This might also require a liner replacement if you have a vinyl liner pool.
We used epoxy filler from Kelly Technical called poxofill to fill cracks and holes. We used bondo on some of the smaller holes. Let me know if you have completed this repair and how it went. Tim Graham
